Inzovu is a specialty coffee produced by Rwanda Trading Company (RTC) and named after the Inzovu Washing Station, located in Western Rwanda, near the shores of Lake Kivu. *Inzovu* means “elephant” in Kinyarwanda, symbolising strength and presence, and the name is used by RTC to represent coffees sourced from selected smallholder farmers delivering cherry to this station. The area benefits from high elevation, fertile volcanic soils, and a temperate climate that supports slow cherry maturation and refined cup quality. The coffee is grown by hundreds of smallholder farmers at elevations of approximately 1,600–1,900 masl, primarily planted with Red Bourbon, Rwanda’s dominant and best-performing variety. Processing at Inzovu is typically fully washed, following Rwanda’s classic style: hand-sorted cherry, careful pulping, extended fermentation, thorough washing, and slow drying on raised African beds. RTC is known for its strong focus on processing discipline, farmer training, and lot separation, which contributes to consistency and clarity across seasons. As part of RTC’s portfolio, Inzovu reflects the company’s long-term commitment to farmer partnerships, quality-driven processing, and positioning Rwanda as a producer of elegant, repeatable specialty coffees.
